Hi everyone,

First of all thanks very much for taking the time to look at my website and my Blog.

I hope that over the next few months I can give you a taster of how my expedition to Everest is shaping up and how the training, preparations and fund raising for Help for Heroes is going.

I want to start with a few more thank yous though. I want to thank all my sponsors, especially my main one, SW Mitchell Capital LLP, who have made this trip possible. Stuart, I hope that I can achieve both of our dreams come May. Also, thanks so much to everyone that has donated anything to me or H4H. However cheesy, I couldn’t have got to this stage without you and that means from the smallest donation to the biggest. The focus that I require to pursue this “hobby” has been difficult for some of you but all your support helps so much…thank you.

At the moment I am sat in my cosy room at St Andrews University looking at photos of my trip to Alaska dotted around my wall knowing that in 100 days or so I will be heading off to Kathmandu and thrust into a rather less comfortable lifestyle. One really has to question why on earth someone would purposefully go out of their way to a dangerous environment and choose to put their body to its limits but man am I looking forward to it.

For me this Everest expedition is what I have I dreamed of every day since it popped into my head whilst reading Bear Grylls’ book “Facing Up” aged 17 (incidentally I would recommend the book to anyone…it is a fantastic read). The 7 Summits is the target I have set myself but Everest – the highest mountain in the world – with all its history and tragedy is what really has a hold over me.

A good friend of mine at uni said to me the other day that every guy, at some point in their lives, thinks of standing on the top of the world. This intrigued me because it isn’t really something that I had thought about before but I suppose it is true which is one of the reasons why I feel so lucky that I have found a passion that I love pursuing.

Everest is, at the moment, the pinnacle of my dreams and should be an experience of a lifetime – although it is still 3 months away – I cannot wait.

Anyway, I hope to keep you posted on how things are going my end.

Until next time…
