How would I describe the expedition? Well 4 words come to my mind immediately – jungle, mud, rain & Dani.

Rising from the dense tropical jungle of West Papua in Indonesia, Carstensz Pyramid is the most elusive of the Seven Summits. Its remoteness, combined with government restrictions, political instability in the region and frequent tribal warring, has meant that few people have climbed it since the first ascent in 1961. An expedition to this intriguing landscape is not just a climbing venture; it is the most technical of the 7, but a journey back in time through tribal ancestries.

An unforgettable expedition. From the hail storms in the rainforest to the Tyrolean Traverse on summit day, it provided an enormous contrast in landscapes, cultures and difficulties.

I am extremely fortunate to have been able to visit one of the most remote and unspoilt regions in the world.
