In September 2010 I will fly to Jakarta en route to attempting to climb Carstensz Pyramid in Papua New Guinea– the highest mountain in Oceania / Australasia.

Rising from the dense tropical jungle of West Papua in Indonesia, Carstensz Pyramid is the most elusive of the Seven Summits. Its remoteness, combined with government restrictions, political instability in the region and frequent tribal warring, has meant that few people have climbed it since the first ascent in 1961. An expedition to this intriguing landscape is not just a climbing venture; it is the most technical of the 7, but a journey back in time through tribal ancestries.

Should my expedition to Papua New Guinea be a successful one, it will be a case of 5 down and 2 to go.
